Service Description

Early and consistent puppy training is crucial for several reasons. It establishes the importance of owner guidance, imparts early manners, and fosters a lifelong love for learning in the pup. Our One Unit Canine puppy kindergarten class goes beyond basic manners, focusing on problem prevention, managed exposure, safe socialization, and building the owner-puppy bond. We follow the AKC S.T.A.R Puppy program, emphasizing Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility. This scientifically grounded, positive reinforcement-based program spans 12 weeks, with one-hour classes each week led by a hands-on instructor. By participating, you and your puppy will gain essential skills, socialize with people and other dogs, and reduce the risk of future behavioral issues. Most importantly, it strengthens the bond between you and your puppy. Our classes concentrate on three key areas: Owner Skills: Teaching owners to care for their puppies, manage routine vet care, and ensure responsible behavior in public spaces. Puppy Skills: Training puppies to avoid aggression, accept collars and harnesses, tolerate human contact, and share resources. Canine Good Citizen Behaviors: Instilling behaviors such as accepting petting from others, leash walking, obeying commands, and remaining calm in various situations. Upon completion, your puppy receives an AKC STAR graduate status, along with a gold medal and certificate. Most importantly, they become a well-behaved and enjoyable companion. Remember, in training, focus on what you want the dog TO do, rather than what you don't want. And whenever you face challenges, One Unit Canine is here to support you every step of the way.
